UX Designer - Melbourne Region

Seer is creating technology that will revolutionise the diagnosis and management of neurological conditions, with a special focus on epilepsy. Our mission is to empower people by delivering personalised deep clinical insights by utilising the latest technology. See here for more information about working at Seer.

Position summary

At Seer, we are building a software platform to power and enable the wearable and implantable devices about to enter the healthcare market. The platform will store and manage the biomedical data from these devices allowing us to provide personalised insights, predictions and alerts to patients in real-time. The platform currently supports our at-home EEG-ECG diagnostic services and will soon support clinical trials of devices carried out by partner companies. The focus to date has been on building a general data platform for data management and review/curation but going forward we need to build out the clinician and patient facing aspects of the platform.

Our web/mobile product team is growing (we’re now 8 developers) and we’re looking to hire our first dedicated designer. This is important as we start to focus more on our external users (clinicians and patients) both in terms of adding features and trying to grow adoption. Our goal for having a designer join the team is to make sure that our product is straightforward and easy to use, even as we add in new features. Beyond this, we also hope to gain better processes and structure around how we research, design, document, implement, and test the right user experience.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Organising, documenting, recording and performing user interviews and usability testing

  • Designing user flow diagrams, storyboards, wireframes, and low-fidelity sketches for our web and mobile apps

  • Facilitation of internal workshops

  • Working closely with our front-end engineers (and the rest of the platform team) to ensure continuity of context across any given piece of work

  • Advocating for users and for user-driven design processes, interrogating assumptions, asking why, and driving critical risk evaluation across any piece of work

  • In collaboration with the rest of the team, ensuring that we are building the best product we can

  • Being an active member of the team's development and learning

Please note: while we value flexibility, we're not able to accommodate remote working at this time - this role is based at Seer HQ in Carlton, Melbourne, VIC.

Skills and experience

We are looking for people with the following attributes:

  • Experience organising and conducting user interviews and usability testing

  • Experience designing user flow diagrams, storyboards, wireframes, and low-fidelity sketches

  • Experience working in collaborative environments alongside web/mobile developers

  • Ability to work well in a diverse team with different backgrounds and experience levels

In addition to these base requirements, we are particularly interested in people with experience designing large software products / platforms.

Salary range: $80k-$110k negotiable, plus 9.5% superannuation.

Application Process

Please via email an application (CV and coverletter) through to the contact details below.
