UX and Visual Designer - Melbourne Region


Position summary

We're building a web platform to power the impending wave of wearable and implantable devices about to enter the healthcare market. The platform will store and manage the biomedical data from these devices which would allow us to provide personalised insights, predictions and alerts to patients in real-time. The platform currently supports our at-home EEG-ECG diagnostic services allowing our clinical team to review patient data and share the data and reports with clinicians. The platform also includes a mobile app (iOS and Android) that allows our patients to keep a diary of any abnormal events.

We’re looking to hire a UX and visual designer to help us research, design and implement the right user experience for the platform and maintain a consistent look and feel.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing wireframes and visual designs for web and mobile interfaces

  • Creating all visual elements for the website and mobile interfaces including icons, illustrations and imagery

  • Conducting user experience investigation and analysis (and creating personas, scenarios and user journeys)

  • Designing user experiences that are intuitive, and refined through ongoing user testing and feedback

  • Documenting UI/UX styles and keeping design elements consistent

  • Working with front-end developers to ensure that designs and implementations integrate seamlessly

  • Responding to any issues or priorities according to the determined level of urgency

  • Proactively raising issues or ideas around how any aspect of the web platform should be designed and built

  • Be an active member of the team's development and learning

  • Ensuring visual design complies with web accessibility standards


Skills and experience

We are looking for people with the following attributes:

  • An advocate for usability, with a creative flair

  • Solid experience with visual design software, such as the Adobe suite

  • Experience with wireframing software (e.g. Sketch)

  • Experience working with web/mobile developers

  • Ability to work well in a diverse team with different backgrounds and experience levels

In addition to these base requirements, we are particularly interested in people experienced with:

  • Video editing and animation

  • Designing for print (brochures, business cards, packaging, etc.)

  • Designing within a CMS (e.g. Squarespace, MailChimp)



Salary range: $80k-$100k negotiable, plus 9.5% superannuation.
