Product design engineer - Melbourne Region

We are looking for a talented product designer with exceptional rapid prototyping skills and a good understanding of manufacturing processes and limitations.

About Us

Seer Medical is a team of experts in clinical science, biomedical engineering and design tackling some of the most challenging problems in medical diagnostics. Founded in 2017, Seer has grown rapidly to deliver an at home EEG/ECG service for epilepsy diagnostics and management that has now helped over 400 people around Australia. This is just the beginning, and we are looking for the best and brightest to join our growing team.

About You

Are you the type of person who is genuinely inspired by good design, has grown up pulling things apart, making stuff and understands the materials and techniques used to create modern products? If the answer is yes, then this role is for you. You will work at concept level all the way through to design for manufacture. You need to be a creative but practical person, who is willing to take a risk.

Things we prefer you have done

  • A degree in mechanical engineering or industrial design

  • +3 years experience designing for manufacture (overseas manufacturing experience desirable)

  • +5 years of experience in SolidWorks (professional or otherwise)

  • You absolutely must be an experienced maker and have excellent physical intuition

Things you can do

  • Prototype your own designs and turn them into something manufacturable

  • Create prototypes using 3D printing, CNC, moulding and other rapid prototyping methods

  • Work with local and international suppliers to develop manufacturable parts (i.e. tooling)

  • Work with a range of materials especially silicon

  • Design products for rapid assembly (clips, tape, glue etc..)
