Neurophysiology Scientists – Sydney Region

Position Summary

There are two positions available within the clinical neurophysiology team. The first is for a lead scientist with extensive expertise and experience who will perform and review ambulatory video EEG-ECG recordings, complete routine administrative tasks and provide direction and training to junior staff. The second position is a junior role in which you will be expected to perform tasks independently and will be provided with ongoing mentoring and training.

Key Responsibilities

As a Neurophysiology Scientist with Seer you will independently perform the following:


  • Measure patients using the EEG international 10-20 system.

  • Connect and disconnect ambulatory video EEG patients.

  • Securely transfer and manage patient data.

  • Maintain data integrity via remote log in / contacting patients via telephone.

  • Perform minor equipment maintenance

Reporting and Reviewing

  • Independently review and annotate prolonged ambulatory video EEG recordings.

  • Complete a Seer scientific report outlining your findings.

  • Communicate findings with reporting neurologist.

  • Complete allocated EEG studies within 1-week timeframe.

Administrative tasks

  • Contact patients and coordinate bookings.

  • Liaise with neurologists regarding booking times and report completion.

Travel / Call Outs

  • Travel to satellite offices to connect/disconnect patients.

  • Onsite call out – if equipment cannot be fixed remotely.

Neurologist Interaction

  • Visit neurologists to raise awareness of the service.

Key Capabilities

We are looking for people with a strong theoretical and practical understanding of electroencephalography. The successful candidates will work well independently, have exceptional communication skills, cope with tight deadlines and be able to work in a very dynamic environment.


  • Full drivers licence.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

  • Comfortable with technology.

  • Capable of meeting tight deadlines.

  • Self-directed and takes initiative.


  • At least two years’ experience in clinical neurophysiology is desired.

  • Experience reviewing EEG data and identifying abnormal/epileptiform activity is essential.

  • Experience reviewing long-term EEG data in adults is essential, and paediatric experience is desirable.


Salary range: $85,000 - $110,000, plus 9.5% superannuation.
